Corn & Wiener Dogs

I love wiener dogs.  I love corn on the cob.  I love them together, corn with wiener dogs.  But NOT corn dogs!

Here's my wiener dog corn cob holder.  Precious.

Here's my fresh corn and my wiener dog corn cob holder.  Looks delicious.

It is delicious.  How do you eat your corn? Do you go around like me or length wise?

No more corny wiener.

And the real wiener wanting corn.

If you want a quick way to make fresh corn, I've got you covered.  Clean the corn.  Wrap each ear of corn in a few very wet paper towels.  Place on a plate and microwave in intervals of 2 minutes until tender.  It'll be so tasty you'll want more.

I love wiener dogs and I love corn!

Enjoy!

Potato Bacon Chowder

Here is a great go to winter soup recipe.  My mom would always make it for parties and everyone loved it.  Now, I make it and it's one of Ronny's favorites.  It's nice and creamy with tender potato chunks and a great bacon flavor.

It goes like this:

Crispy up 8 slices of bacon.  I like to chop mine before cooking, but do whatever you want.

Remove bacon and let it drain on a paper towel.  Leave the bacon grease in pan.

Saute the onions in the bacon grease.  When onions are soft, remove and let sit with bacon for a bit.

Cube up 4 cups of potatoes and add to pot with 1 cup of water.  Cook until tender.

To the water and potatoes add 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1 cup sour cream, 1 3/4 cup milk, bacon and onions.

Simmer chowder, but do not boil.

Garnish with cheese, bacon and green onions.

Enjoy!

Here is the exact recipe my mom and I still use:

P.S.  I don't know the exact origin of this recipe, but we didn't create it!

Tomato Basil Soup

This is a super easy soup that will warm you up on the chilliest of winter days.  It is perfect with a side of garlic bread  or great with a grilled cheese sandwich.

Here we go:  Diced tomato, chicken broth, cream, basil, sugar and butter.

Blitz tomatoes in blender until desired smoothness or chunkieness.

Add tomatoes and chicken broth to pan and bring to boil.

Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add basil.

Add sugar.

Add cream and butter.  Cook until butter is melted.  Then serve.

Tomato Basil Soup

1 (14.5 ounce) can tomatoes
1/2 (14.5 ounce) can chicken broth
1 teaspoon dried basil (more or less to taste)
1 teaspoon sugar (more or less to taste...I like a little sweet)
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup butter

In a saucepan bring tomato and chicken broth to boil.  Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.  Add basil and sugar.  Reduce heat to low, stir in butter and cream.  Cook until butter is melted.

Makes 2 bowls full.  Adapted from allrecipes.
