I Have a Problem

So, it's probably not a good thing when you hear your husband say to you, "you have a problem."  Well this happened to me just the other night.

I have a confession to make...I do have a problem.  I am ADDICTED to YouTube beauty videos and makeup.  I say this with emphasis because when Ronny told me I have a problem I was in bed watching YouTube on my phone at midnight!  I'd say that's a problem.

I've loved makeup for I'd say at least 20 years.  I've always enjoyed playing with and buying makeup...just forget about it when I first discovered Sephora.  It was like I'd found my home.  But, last year when I discovered YouTube beauty videos my makeup love went to an obsession.  I blame the YouTube beauty gurus on my rather large and ever growing makeup collection.  It's amazing and I love it.

Here are some of the beauty channels I watch often (every day they post videos) if you're looking to kill  a few minutes, or hours, or a day!

Macadamia Natural Oils

I have to say, I have always taken a lot of pride in how my hair looks.  I mean my senior year of high school I was voted best hair!  I'm really cool, aren't I?  Ha.  I've been keeping up my "natural" blond locks for quite some time now...with spurts of red...and brown, once (say no to brown).  Even through this maintenance my hair has stayed remarkably healthy.

Cut to after the birth of my daughter.  No, cut back to pregnancy.  My hair and skin were looking pretty good, if I might say so myself.  Now, cut to after the birth of Fenley.  My hair and skin are not something I'd like to brag about.  Really, you probably can't see too much of a change, but I can.  My skin is dry and back to having minor breakouts and my "natural" blond locks are feeling quite dry.  I know this is do to a change in hormones (yeah, yeah), but I'm gonna try and help what has taken a turn for the not so much better.

This is Macadamia Natural Oil.  I've heard rave reviews about this stuff.  It's supposed to be good for all hair types...dry, colored...I'll stop there since that covers me!  Anyway, I just got it and am going to be trying it out.  I thought I'd let you know what's going on, I'll try it, then tell you what I thought.  Ok, a review!

Here's the Rejuvenating Shampoo.  Nice, and free of all bad things!

Meet Moisture Rinse.  Nice, and free of all bad things!  It's a daily conditioner for those of you who choose to wash your hair that often.

This is the Deep Repair Masque.  Fancy!  It reconstructs dry hair and I'm sure brings it back to it's glory days.

Finally, Healing Oil Treatment.  It's a healer and a therapist all packed in a 4.2 ounce glass bottle (with a pump).

I'm gonna give these all a fair shot.  We'll see if they are really miracle workers in a hair care form!

Bathroom Beautification-Black and White Vintage Faces Wallpaper

So about a month or two ago I decided to take on a bathroom beautification project.  I called it a "beautification" because the bathroom has already been remodeled, this is just a "make it prettier" project.  I told Ronny one night that I was going to do this and of course he didn't care.  I expected it to take maybe 2 weeks...a quick pretty project.  Well, about a month later it was finished.  And I think it's a much more beautiful version of what it was.

I'll show you the before and after.  I don't have the real before (like when we moved it), but you can still see a change.

This is what you see upon entering the bathroom.  I'd always wanted a bathroom with a black and white floor with mint sherbet colored walls.

This is the original cabinetry after about 4 different coats of white paint.  We added the granite and the back splash after moving in.

Shower.  Oh, and vintage doctors cabinet and stool. The stool was actually my great grandpa's!  So cool.  I found the cabinet at an antique store and had to rebeautify it.

Boring!  I could never decide what to do to spruce up the toilet area.  The one picture and Kleenex box aren't cutting it.

Here it is...the final product!

Woh!  It's black and white vintage face wallpaper.  I saw it and was in love.  My mom and aunt hung the wallpaper for me.  It was a horrible, awful, nerve racking experience...but it was worth it.

I loved the striped hand towel.  I'm into mixing patterns right now.

Much better.  Ronny even made these shelves.  Looks amazing, just what I was going for.

Strawberry lipstick colored door.  Adds a bright pop of color to the black, white and gray.

Guilty Obsession

Is there anything you "collect" and just can't help yourself from buying?  Admit it, just say yes because I'm sure there is.

So over the weekend Ronny and I discussed this quite a few times actually, things we LOVE, have a lot of, can't help from buying, but don't really need.  For Ronny it's guns.  I suppose he might convince himself he needs each one for hunting something different, but I'm not really sure he does.  He just loves guns and loves buying them, so he does.

Here's what I am slightly obsessed with... Ray-Ban sunglasses and handbags...no surprise I'm sure.  But, it's really practical if you think about it.  You need sunglasses to protect your eyes and to help beautify yourself and hide your face if you don't have makeup on.  Handbags hold your money, keys, lipstick, coupons, tape measure (yes, I carry a tape measure), cell phone and help beautify you!  It's all about beautification for me...but when you have more than a couple of sunglasses and handbags, maybe that's an obsession.

I mean, I've admitted the only reason I worked in college was to buy Coach handbags and maybe a little food and gas for the car.  But really, I'd work and save for a new handbag, buy it and then start saving for my next one.  It was amazing and now I have quite a collection.  I have since taken to Michael Kors and Kate Spade handbags...fabulous bags, but not always fabulous on the budget...but Ronny says that's why we both work!

Ray-Ban's are a fairly new love of mine.  When I worked in the mall during college there was a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers that I would go "visit" quite often.  Finally Ronny said just get them...so I did!  Now I'm in love.

Aren't they great?!  How could I have turned them down?

Since that first, beautiful aqua pair of Ray-Ban's I've only gotten 2 more.  Another pair of Wayfarers and my newest addition, these amazing Aviators, polarized and all (fancy, I've been told!).

As I keep thinking I might be obsessed with colored denim, flats, stud earrings, anything limited edition...I'd better go!

You'd better change

Today I was reminded of something my mom used to tell me.  It was haunting me the entire day.  She has told me, "if you don't feel good in an outfit, change."  "If you don't, it will effect you entire day."

So today I got up, got ready for work, looked in the mirror and said to myself, "this blazer looks like it was made for a 12 year old."  I tried to convince myself that this blazer would be ok, probably because I do like it.  But, then I remembered what my mom said...so I put a cardigan on instead.  I also had on a cute black hat because I wasn't having the best hair day.  I left for work. 

Then, at about 10:00 I'd had enough.  I came home, took the hat off, sprayed some dry shampoo in my hair, put it in a ponytail, threw on a head band and went back to work.  The rest of the day was still off...the outfit didn't work and my hair looked like I was set to go to the gym (like I'd do that!).  The day did brighten when I came home and put on my sweats and a hoodie.

Moral of the story...If you don't feel good before you leave the house, change, because if you don't it'll bring your entire day down.

It's because you're FABULOUS

I suppose inspiration can come from anywhere, right?  Well last week I watched Bad Teacher with Ronny.  You know, the movie with Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake...where Cameron is a less than appropriate teacher.  Anyway, I fell absolutely in love with Cameron's red, red, red lipstick.

I have never been a big fan of wearing lipstick.  I typically wear Burt's Bees chapstick and on a "special" day I might wear a nude shade of lipstick.  But after seeing Cameron's red lipstick I decided that I would get a red lipstick and wear it on a non "special" day.

So literally the day after I fell in love with her lipstick I went to the MAC  counter to get some.  I did my research and knew that Russian Red was THE red to get.  I mean it was made for Madonna to wear on her Blond Ambition tour.

                         

The woman at the counter had to do no work because I had already sold myself on it...I loved it.  I did ask her something though and the answer was amazing and something to remember.  I asked her, "If I wear this lipstick in the daytime will people stare at me like I'm crazy?"  Here is her answer, remember it...IF PEOPLE STARE AT YOU IT'S ONLY BECAUSE YOU'RE FABULOUS.

This lipstick can change your mood, your outlook and your appearance...it's FABULOUS.
